I am pleased to endorse Julian Ellacott as Chairman of the National Conservative Convention, he will be an effective voice for the voluntary party.

I am writing to express my enthusiastic endorsement of Julian Ellacott for the Chairman’s position of the National Convention.  Having known Julian Ellacott for quite a while, I can confidently say that he possesses the qualities and experience necessary to excel in this role.

Julian has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in his current Vice President’s role.  I believe Julian is the best choice for the Chairman’s position because his vision for conservative policy aligns perfectly with the needs of our party.

I urge everyone to support Julian Ellacott in the upcoming election. Together we can assure a brighter future for our party with Julian at the helm.

Julian doesn’t only care about the big issues the party faces but he also cares about supporting smaller associations and federations.

If we want to rebuild to win the next election, we need the grassroots of our party to be a strong as it can possibly be. Julian is the right person to help make that happen.

He’s worked tirelessly at every level of the voluntary party for decades, in every corner of the country. Julian is approachable, considered and always professional. Julian is a thoroughly decent, intelligent and engaging person who has a first-class record of service to our members and the Conservative Party. So many endorsements already demonstrate what an enormous asset Julian is to the Voluntary Party. He is so committed and works so hard to enable the Party to progress beyond the doldrums in which we sadly find ourselves just now. Julian has always been extremely approachable and helpful to me as both an association officer and a councillor.

Julian is always available to help colleagues, residents and communities.

Julian is a born leader with a unique ability to see all perspectives and unite people to find a solution everyone can support . His nationwide campaigning has given him unparalleled insight into the issues affecting each region. As Vice President, he has been a steadfast advocate for the voluntary party. As I step down from my National Convention role at the ripe old age of 34 to support a leadership candidate race, I want everyone to know how much of a pleasure it has been to work with you. At a Party Board level, you fought alongside me and others to ensure that members remain central to the leadership race, and you have never shied away from giving constructive yet firm feedback to CCHQ and our party leadership.

I am confident that you can be trusted to put our associations, federations, and put members at the heart of our rebuild.

As a former MEP for the South West, I know what a large and diverse region it is.  As our Regional Chairman, Julian worked tirelessly to bring our volunteers together. His work organising campaign support, conferences and online training have resulted in a more cohesive organisation.  We need his skills as Chairman to revuild our Party in the aftermath of the General Election.

Julian has a strong track record of campaigning and organisation, spanning two different regions. He leads by example, travelling across the south West and beyond to campaign week in, week out. With this grounding in the voluntary party he will be a strong advocate of our interests at the Board.

Julian has worked hard over many years, at every level of the party, to bring people together to focus on the best for the Party above all else. He has shown that he can work with volunteers, professionals and elected representatives to effectively get things done. I have worked with Julian for over 15 years and it’s an absolute pleasure to nominate him for Chairman of the National Convention. Having known and worked with Julian for 25 years, he has outstanding people and organisation skills. He is the best person to take over the Chairman role.

Julian was a very able, clear-thinking and dedicated SW Regional Chairman, and has continued in this vein in his time on the Party Board. He has very wide and deep knowledge of national and regional Party matters. He chairs meetings superbly, is sharp on the uptake and relates well to people of very diverse backgrounds. If it were not for Julian I would not be in the position I am now as a Deputy Chair. He suggested me when others may not have seen my potential. I first met Julian in 2015, as Chairman of Reigate, rallying his members to take to the neighbouring target seat of Sutton & Cheam – which we then won. His experience, willingness to work hard and to involve others have made him an asset to the Board, and I believe that he is the right person to take over the reins as Chairman of the National Convention.

Julian has been a superb representative of our Party in local government and a champion of our volunteers as a leader at all levels.
Having seen his campaigning passion up close I know he is a fantastic representative of the grassroots able to energise and empathise in equal measure.
As the Chairman of our Party I can think of fewer more qualified people to lead our members forward and address the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Julian has years of experience rooted in the voluntary party. I can think of no one better to represent us on the Board of the Party.

Julian leads from the front on the campaign trail as well as within the party. Julian has campaigned in every election in my patch, in the South West and nationally in the last five years. I’ve worked closely with Julian for many years, particularly when I was chairman of Surrey Area, the South East and the Party’s Membership Committee, as well as during my four years on the Party Board. Julian always brings energy and fresh ideas. I know him as a hard-working and committed individual with strong leadership skills, making him the ideal Chairman of the National Convention.

Julian has been a great supporter of Bristol and South Gloucestershire Federation.  He has offered his knowledge, expertise and experience of the Party to help us rebuild our internal structures and develop a campaign focused organisation capable of complex and extensive campaigns.

I have known Julian as borough councillor, Conservative Group Leader, Chairman and President of the Reigate & Banstead Conservative Association.

Julian led the South West for almost 3 years and did sterling work. He has always tried to tread the party line but understands the challenges of Associations and has been an excellent conduit between the centre and the troops on the ground.  He has been fully engaged in campaigning and as an Association Chairman I would endorse his application to be Chairman of the National Convention.

Julian provided a great deal of help and support to Associations and members during his term as South West Regional Chairman.

Julian consistently demonstrates the perfect leadership blend of having a clear vision and driving to make things happen – all in the nicest possible way. We in the South West have been very lucky to have benefited from his fabulous leadership in recent years and in his VP National Convention role. I can think of no one I trust more to lead the voluntary party at this critical time.

Julian was an excellent leader of the South West region with an energy that is commendable, and followed this with his stint as a Vice President of the Convention, where his enthusiasm to travel and support others across the country is a beacon for others to emulate. In the South West he led a team that was able to support him easily and would support his election to the role of Chairman of the Convention.

In his role as South West Regional Chair, Julian worked hard, took a balanced and reasonable approach to tricky situations, brought in new approaches and was a thoroughly nice person to work with.

Over the last couple of years that I have known Julian, I’ve found him approachable and receptive to picking up and supporting good ideas. He has provided guidance and support to me as a new Area Chairman.

Julian in the main reason I became a Conservative activist. I met him whilst he was campaigning when he was a Councillor and he was not only  able  to convince  me to  vote for him but I also ended up joining the party and became quite active.

An efficient well organised man with vision. Julian has the insight to be able to bring about the changes that we need to make to our party in terms of organisation, policy and message projection that are necessary.

Julian has an understanding of people, and especially the party, not just politics. He understands politics with a small P as much as politics with a large P. This means he can advise in a kindly way, without alienating. Very very experienced guy within the voluntary party- you couldn’t ask for a better Chairman.

Julian has also been extremely instrumental in helping me sort out a couple of issues that at his level he didn’t need to help with, but he has done so. Always in a polite, expedient, understanding – and effective – way. He cares. He’s the one for the job.

I first met Julian whilst out campaigning and have bumped into him in all kinds of places, working to support candidates and activists on the ground as well as at events and conferences. The level of work Julian puts in enables him to gain a real understanding of the electorate and shows his dedication to the party. Being in touch with volunteers at all levels through campaigning and associations has enabled Julian to have a deep understanding of how people view the party and its mechanisms. An approachable person who listens is exactly the kind of person we need to guide this party through this difficult time and that is why I will be supporting Julian to become Chairman of the National Convention.

I am supporting Julian to become Vice President of The National Convention. He has given us great service as the SW Regional Chairman during the last three years. He is an excellent leader and works incredibly hard. He will take these strengths to the next step in his political career so even more of the Conservative family will be able to see the benefits.

Julian was my first ‘port of call’ when I joined the Party/my local Association. Julian signposted me and encouraged me to put myself forward for public office and it is thanks to him that I am now representing the area in which I grew up as a County Councillor. Julian routinely offers myself and colleagues sound advice and guidance, based on immense personal experience and he has the optimum demeanour and personality for leading the Voluntary Party.

When Julian was our DCP in Reigate and Banstead, he always managed to galvanise members into carrying out regular campaigning sessions. Julian has that unique ability to get members to follow his lead!

Julian Ellacott had an impressive record of support for the Constituencies within the South West, when he was our Region Chairman. We were concerned at our loss when he joined the Board, but believe the Party will be a much stronger organisation as a result due to his already proven qualities.

When I have previously heard from Julian, I have been astounded by his ability to represent the Party in such a respectable, yet down to earth way. Stereotypes are broken, and I much admire this, it results in the promotion of inclusivity, something I believe is a necessity to boost Party growth.

Julian is a true example of the best in our voluntary party. He works tirelessly for everyone and is an amazing advocate for all our members. Julian has a complete understanding of all levels from branches to national convention, and wherever he has been an officer the area has seen improvement. For him to be an officer of the national convention can only be a positive for all associations, areas and regions. Julian has served at all levels within the Voluntary Party – crucially – both in a battleground region as well as a majority seat region. That breadth of experience and knowledge is so important to have on the Party Board. During my time as Chairman, Julian was without doubt one of the most effective and forward looking Association Chairs. He has all the attributes of being an excellent Chairman.

Julian leads from the front. Indeed he led the campaign support to Sutton & Cheam from neighbouring Reigate, in the run up to my first election victory in 2015. He is an energetic campaigner and dedicated to the Voluntary Party. More than ever we need strong leadership with our members at the heart of our recovery and I believe Julian has the ethos, vision and track record to provide that as Chairman of the National Convention.

Julian is a team builder and campaigner, with both the professional staff and the Voluntary Party. His formidable intellect, grasp of detail and personal kindness to all have ensured buy in from all those he works with. Julian embodies the Voluntary Party, and he will forge us into the campaigning machine we will need to be come to take on the fight to return to power. We couldn’t have a better candidate to become Chairman of the Convention.

Julian has been an instrumental part in enabling me to organise Young Conservative events, and in turn reach and empower other YCs.

I was a bit nervous to meet The South West Chair, but when I was introduced to Julian, he immediately put me at ease.  I have seen him do the same with the other YCs I have introduced to him since. He always comes across as genuine, and makes sure to have a conversation with me when we see each other at Conferences and campaigns.

Julian has also provided practical help that I could not have done without. Becoming a Young Conservative and building up one’s activity within the Party can be daunting to 25s-and-under. The Party is a ‘real world’ body, and organising events can involve logistics and responsibilities that a young person usually does not grapple with when in education. Julian has provided me with the ways to surmount these challenges. When I wanted to hold online events, but didn’t have access to a Zoom account, he provided one. When I realised I would need to charge for tickets for some in-person events to pay for the room booking, he ensured that I had access to an Eventbrite account and knew how to claim back expenses. Not only this, but he organised a long zoom call with me and explained how to use the platform, answering all my questions. At no point did I feel rushed, and he offered further assistance should I need it. He answers my messages promptly, clearly and kindly.

If Julian doesn’t know the answer to a question I ask him, he refers me to someone who does.

By helping me with the above, Julian has empowered me to reach out to other YCs through events and to build upon the YC community. When helping to organise the Young Conservative Coordinators for the South West Associations, I was also able to tell them truthfully that they are supported and can ask any questions or request any support that they need.

I would highly recommend Julian for the position of Chairman of the National Convention and would consider the Party very fortunate to have him in this role.

Julian is a huge asset to the Conservative Party. His commitment is so broad and deep that it is hard to summarise. He is a role-model activist, endlessly helpful, wise and professional. He leads by example, and at his core wants the very best for our members, our party and our country. We need people like Julian in leadership positions in our party. I will be voting for him and I urge you to do the same.
